Reports to:   Media Director

Job Summary

Maintains the day-to-day operations of HTVN, the city’s government access station.  Responsible for editing and uploading data to the station. Also, serves as a secondary person to maintain operational status of the city’s website and social media sites. Along with any and all other needs deemed necessary by the Media Director.

Essential Functions

  • Editing stories to be uploaded to HTVN.
  • Help with marketing the city through television and website.
  • Scheduling of the shows for the television station (HTVN).
  • Make decisions on content of the television station, website and social media sites.
  • Tape council meetings, planning meetings, and other events.
  • Performs other duties as requested and deemed necessary by the Media Director.

 Minimum Qualifications Required

Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, Communications, Journalism or a related field Plus 2-3 years of related experiences; any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses and Certification:  

Valid South Carolina Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and theories of operational and administrative management; administrative principles and practices, including goal setting and program development and implementation; computer applications related to the work including, editing software and website management.

Skills in:  Applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; a very high level of analytical skills necessary in order to develop and implement and supervise

Organizational skills to keep on schedule and to have materials on the website and television in a timely manner.

Organizing work, setting priorities, meetings critical deadlines, and following up assignments with a minimum of direction; communicating clearly and effectively, orally and in writing; motivating staff, and providing for their training.

Mental and Physical Abilities to handle the stress of deadlines and several task that may come simultaneously. Maybe required to move equipment up to 30 pounds.  Concentrate and pay close attention to details; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Working Conditions:  Works is performed in a normal office environment and in the field with exposure to outdoor temperatures, or dirt and dust; the incumbent’s working conditions are typically quiet with moderate impact.

Dress is usually business casual unless there is an event that calls for something else.
