Rodney Cannon, Mayor

Rodney Cannon, MayorCannon served as an elected member of the Hardeeville City Council from 1988 until 1994. He ran for and was elected to the position of Mayor in 1994, and has maintained that position to the present day, with his attentiveness to the needs and controlled growth of the community that he serves. He moved to Hardeeville in 1979 from Myrtle Beach, SC. Professionally, he has been a planning and design engineer for Hargray Communications for 10 years. Prior to that, he was a volunteer firefighter and private businessman/electrician in Hardeeville. He and his wife Cindy have two sons and three grandchildren. rcannon@cityofhardeeville.com

A. Brooks Willis, Mayor Pro Tem

Brooks Willis, Mayor Pro TemWillis was elected to his second term on the City Council nearly two years ago. Before that, he served from 1994-1998. He retired a year ago from Southern Corrections Inc., a probation company in Georgia. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in marketing from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, LaJuan, have a daughter, a son in law and a grandson. bwillis@cityofhardeeville.com

Bea Jones, City Councilwoman

Bea Jones, City CouncilwomanJones was first elected to the City Council in 2002, and was reelected in 2006. She had previously served the city for two years as a firefighter and the county for seven years in the EMS (Emergency Management Services). She was a reporter and then an opinion columnist for local newspapers, and a department manager for the garden center at Wal-Mart. She is a ceramicist and professional artist; Androste, her fiberglass Mermaid for Beaufort's Big Swim, graced Beaufort's Waterfront Park. She is an advertising specialist and promoter. She served two terms as the vice chair of the state's Libertarian Party. She and her husband Mike have three children and two grandchildren. bjones@cityofhardeeville.com

Bill Horton, City Councilman

Bill Horton, City CouncilmanElected in 2004, Horton is a nationally registered paramedic and a Lieutenant on nearby Hilton Head Island. He is also a heavy-duty towing and recovery specialist for Sapp's Wrecker Service in Savannah. He is a native of Hilton Head, but has spent most of his life in Hardeeville. Earl Cooler, City Councilman

Earl Cooler, City CouncilmanMr. Cooler assumed office in November to serve the remainder of Councilman Edward “Tedd” Moyd’s term, which expires in 2008. Mr. Moyd had earlier resigned his post to accept a job with Jasper County. Mr. Cooler had previously served on the City Council from 1982-1984, and was chairman of the Hardeeville Planning Commission from 1998-2005. He retired as a supervisor from the CSX Railroad in 1987. He is a native of Hardeeville and a graduate of Hardeeville High School. He and his wife Jean have two sons and two grandsons.
