Full-Time Planner

The City of Hardeeville has an immediate opening for a full-time Planner.  This position is primarily responsible for zoning review of applications before the Staff Review Committee, Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning Commission, including but not limited to subdivisions, site development plans, variances and zoning changes.  Duties include review of current planning and development applications for compliance with code requirements, preparation of written and oral reports to boards and commissions, responding to routine questions, meeting with applicants and prospective applicants, and assisting other Planning Staff as needed. This position requires knowledge of local government and land management concepts, familiarization with GIS, and the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, and government entities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgement.

Minimum qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field; two years of community development experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
